BAN-PDM vs LAM Accreditation Differences

The two main accreditation bodies in Indonesia are BAN-PDM (National Accreditation Board for Basic and Secondary Education) and LAM (Independent Accreditation Body). Each has different scope and procedures.

BAN-PDM

Accredits basic and secondary education levels (SD, SMP, SMA/SMK). Uses standardized national instruments issued by the government.

LAM

Accredits study programs in higher education. Each LAM has specific instruments per field of study (LAM-PTKes for health, LAM-InfoTek for informatics, etc).

Key Differences

  • Scope: BAN-PDM for SD/SMP/SMA, LAM for universities
  • Instruments: BAN-PDM nationally standardized, LAM study-program specific
  • Validity Period: BAN-PDM 5 years, LAM varies
